Kayak Anglers (WPA/NEO) Battle of the Border Fishing Tournament

by Dain Provins

The Kayak Anglers (WPA/NEO) Battle of the Border Fishing Tournament at Pymatuning Reservoir brought together 115 passionate anglers for a day of competitive fishing and community bonding. Hosted by the Kayak Anglers of Western PA and Kayak Anglers North East Ohio, the event was a resounding success.
The event kicked off with group camping, fostering camaraderie among participants. Anglers enjoyed each other’s company, sharing stories and experiences around the campfire, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. We’d like to thank our friends at Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau for helping make this possible. Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau
The main event saw anglers casting their lines at the beautiful Pymatuning Reservoir, all competing for the top spot in the tournament. The weather was perfect, and the competition was fierce. 366 bass were caught and 37 anglers hit a limit.
The tournament also served a charitable cause, raising an impressive $2,380 for Unity a Journey for Hope. This organization provides support to individuals facing critical illnesses, making the day’s success even more meaningful. Unity, A Journey of Hope.
After a day on the water, participants gathered for a meet-up event filled with excitement at Linesville beach pavilion. The highlight of the evening was the raffle, where a kayak from The River's Edge Canoe & Kayak and many other prizes were given away, adding to the thrill of the day.
The event not only showcased the skills and sportsmanship of the anglers but also emphasized the spirit of community and charity. The combination of competitive fishing, enjoyable social activities, and meaningful fundraising made this tournament a memorable experience for all involved.
With the help of our sponsors and amazing membership participation, we were happy to pay out the top 11 spots.
